Button dies are used with a diestock tool to drive the button die round to create a new external thread or to repair a damaged or worn out external thread. If only needing to repair a thread you may alternatively prefer a die nut for ease of use with a spanner, but for creating a thread a die nut is recommended as the diestock gives you more control for creating a suitable thread.
Goliath dies are a high quality, high speed solution for external threading and can be used alone to create or fix your thread, but to improve the ease of use and life of your dies it is highly recommended to use a cutting fluid or paste. Goliath provide a suitable product called RapidTap for this job.
